Hello CDS members,

I recently came across something I think is pretty cool. It's new for me, but it may not be new for you. Being able to have live, active and manipulative backgrounds for your desktop! I came across this software from a Star Citizen post on Facebook where there is a parked Constellation in the background with ships flying overhead in AreaCorp, pretty bad ass!

Here is a link to Steam's software:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/431960/...

Here is a link to get the SC active desktop backgrounds:
http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=431960&searchtext=...

I was wondering for all our artistic/technical savvy members if there is a way to create a CDS themed active wallpaper? For example, maygbe a CDS themed flag that waves in the background? Or anything else cool that you can come up with.

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions!

Re: Steam Wallpaper Engine

I've seen it. My major concern is performance drop from having it open.

It is a cool idea though. For $5 maybe I'll just try it out.

That's a good point, I didn't think about the work-load it would take away from the cpu/ram. I'll see if I can test its load and post it. If you could too, that would be cool.

Re: Steam Wallpaper Engine

Seems to be using about 20.5MB of RAM so not so bad.

Re: Steam Wallpaper Engine

Right, not too bad. I was able to find an animated background (witcher 3) with audio/music that only used 78 MB, which still is not all that much. See attached file.
